Resuscitation faculty & services

A&A run a successful resuscitation training service that ensures you receive up-to-date training for maintaining a high level of competence within the workplace. For all resuscitation training A&A use appropriate equipment, provide managerial support and they continually evaluate standards and results.

A&A has a resuscitation faculty made up of ALS (Advanced Life Support) and EPLS (European Paediatric Life Support) instructors, that represent the rest of their team and are responsible for all resuscitation issues, including teaching and continually scrutinising course content. The instructors meet on a regular basis in order to agree course consensus and continually work on the structure of course layout and how to appropriately respond to best practice guidelines.

Staff with patient contact should be given regular resuscitation training appropriate to their expected abilities and role. It is also a mandatory requirement that all staff are trained annually in Basic Life Support. A&A therefore provide highly specialised courses and adopt a team approach more appropriate to this nature of training.

A&A Training can also carry out annual comprehensive audits of the resuscitation equipment within establishments, on request. This involves visiting all clinical environments where resuscitation equipment is in place. An audit report would then be issued to confirm that all areas have appropriate equipment in stock, or have been advised what to order. A&A Training can convert all Automated External Defibrillators to function using the new Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines. A&A were the first training body in the UK to implement the use of these guidelines in December 2005.

Cardiac arrests can also be audited and advice can be provided regarding the improvement of clinical standards. Following any cardiac arrest incidents on site A&A can assist in follow up investigations. An additional part of this service is the organisation of a critical incident analysis meeting, to provide support, guidance and reflection.
